Gen2 Energy is continuing the recruitment of key personnel. We are pleased to announce the hiring of Mr. Andreas Ekker as Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Paal André Utvik as Vice President Shipping and Logistics. They both took over their positions on 2 August 2021.
Andreas Ekker is an energy professional with experience from energy companies such as Shell, Hustad & Granaas and Circle K where he held international leadership positions within oil refining, B2B sales and pricing, logistics and project execution. Andreas holds a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and an Executive Master of Management from BI Norwegian Business School.
Says Ekker: “I am very pleased to get this opportunity to join the Gen2 Energy team. Hydrogen will be an important part of the future energy mix and Gen2 Energy has what it takes to succeed in this market. My responsibility will be to identify and team up with industrial companies for offtake of Green Hydrogen. The energy transition will be significant over the coming decade and being on the forefront in making it happen is an exciting challenge.”
Paal André Utvik started his career as a marine engineer in Ålesund, Norway, before embarking upon a long period working internationally, based in Houston, South Korea, China and Singapore. His extensive experience includes oil exploration R&D for PGS, ship building supervision for Leiv Höegh & Co., business development and Regional Manager Asia for Grieg. In 2012, Utvik established Storm Capital Partners in Shanghai, where he is still Chairman of the Board, and in 2012 Floating Energy Group in Singapore, working with floating gas-fired power stations. In 2008 he obtained a MBA degree from Fudan University in Shanghai.
“Having worked with LNG for a long period of time, it seems very natural to be applying my experience to the emerging hydrogen market. There is a strong increase in the awareness of the need for a green shift, and I want to be a part of that. I am looking forward to working with skilled colleagues here in Gen2 Energy, where I will oversee the building of suitable vessels for hydrogen transport as well as the overall logistical operations involved in bringing the fuel of the future to customers all over Europe,” says Utvik.
